Discovery STEM Education is a not for profit organisation based at Kelham Island Museum.
Bespoke enrichment days, after school clubs, holiday workshops, career specific courses for post-16 students and CPD for teachers are delivered by experienced practitioners with expertise in engaging young people.
A major focus of our STEM career building strategy is to provide the best platforms for UK children to become future leaders in tech-related industries. In the summer of 2018 we held the inaugural UK World Educational Robot Contest (WER)
at the Octagon Centre in Sheffield.
We collaborate closely with the Department of Mechanical Engineering
at Sheffield University and their doctoral training centres (where students investigate machining and tribology).
By helping children of all backgrounds to explore and experience science and engineering, we can inspire and motivate the next generation, supporting young people to become the Sheffield scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians who will shape our future and take on the world's greatest challenges.
We work with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Ambassadors and are approved by Sheffield City Council as a Children’s University Learning Destination (ages 5 – 18).
